Snow Snow Snow!

Lumière 2013.20.01 "Snow snow snow" by Lumiere_Radioscorpio on Mixcloud

Last sunday Belgium was covered in snow. Because we missed a white Christmas and our New Year wasn't white either, we dedicated our first episode to this wonderful view. If you missed the episode, click the banner above. The spoken text is in Dutch, but the music is international and legendary!

In the episode we also had some interesting announcements! A small overview below:

- In February we will have our first Film & Literature contest of 2013! Thanks to Boekcargo Leuven we will be able to reward our winners with a nice book instead or combined with a film ticket! Visit their website and Facebook Page to see what offer! You love books? Find them at Tiensestraat 6 in Leuven!

- After our big succes with the Around The World With Movie Music last semester, we plan a movie music by Genre series, coming up soon. Suggestions and and ideas can be shared by mail!

- What next Sunday will have in store, you'll need to find out on our Facebook Page! We'll keep you updated!

See you on Sunday for our new Lumière!

Students come 'closer to classic'

www.closertoclassic.com

Since 2013 kicked off, a nice project got our attention. A school project of four students of the Catholic University of Leuven worked on a website to bring classical music closer to the public. Therefore they developed a working social media strategy and gorgeous new website.
Why do we want to present this website to you? Why would it be interesting for readers of our blog?

The answer here is simple: one of the methods the students use is through movie music. At the center of their content, the website offers information and videos of filmed composers, like W. A. Mozart in Amadeus or Schubert in The Double life of Schubert. With a small biography the students categorize some periods in the history of classical music and make connections with recent or older movies. Besides the website also puts a focus on shortfilms, movies about classical music and soundtracks in general.

Our own Ruben Laureys adviced the student crew. Curious about their result? Visit www.closertoclassic.com . Are you interested in winning some tickets for a classical concert or getting interactive with other fans of classical music, their facebook page is the place to be.
